“People are definitely a company’s greatest asset. It doesn’t make any difference whether the product is cars or cosmetics. A company is only as good as the people it keeps.”
-Mary Kay Ash
From accounting to sales, at SUPPLY.com, we’ve got 150+ characters who make us unique. When walking through our 100,000 sq. ft. warehouse, it’s next to impossible to miss one of its biggest personalities, Operations Supervisor, Hazaa Al-Tobaishi. In a nutshell, Hazaa’s role is to oversee an ever-growing team that represents the last touch between us and our customers. From the packaging process to the materials used, every detail has been meticulously thought out and calculated.
Recently married, Hazaa has a unique story that would lead many to believe was the inspiration behind Dos Equis’ Most Interesting Man in the World. We recently sat down with the warehouse’s international man of mystery to learn more about his journey to SUPPLY.com, why he likes working here, and what makes him who he is.
Prior to joining SUPPLY.com, Hazaa garnered 5 years of logistics experience, working Norfolk Southern, Qatar Petroleum, and ABM Industries. His role at Qatar Petroleum took him to practically every corner of the globe, from Qatar and the Netherlands, to Thailand and the U.A.E. After traveling the world, Hazaa moved home to the Atlanta area to get married and obtain his Master’s degree at Clayton State University. When asked why he joined the SUPPLY.com team, he said, “Marcus sold me on the vision he painted – a chance to really learn supply chain, inside out, a chance to have access to the company’s leadership, and a chance to affect the culture in the warehouse,” Hazaa recalls. “I love the fact that I can see the impact I create.”
If your team had a mantra, what would it be?
Work hard or go home.
Having recently arrived at his 2 year work anniversary, Hazaa started his SUPPLY.com career in 2014 by making boxes in the warehouse while working on his Master’s. After months of hard work and determination, he’s now the Operations Supervisor for a 100,000 sq. ft. warehouse and manages a team of more than 50 associates. “I’m managing a diverse group of people – rookies with a couple of years experience to veterans with 20 plus years under their belts. On top of that, we’re building out the warehouse, and its processes, while running it at the same time. It’s a balancing act for sure.” Even with the obvious challenges at hand, Hazaa attributes his success to three factors: “I’m a people person who respects diversity, I understand the customer experience and the role operations plays within it, and I’m meticulous when it comes to getting things out on time.”
The warehouse team has grown considerably since Hazaa joined the team and there’s no question that its growth has benefited from his leadership. “We’re growing so fast, it’s crazy,” says Al-Tobaishi. “We’re constantly adding additional products and more people to manage and, as a result, we’re looking for another 70,000 sq. ft. to accommodate our growth.” When asked how they do it, Hazaa boiled it down to three factors:
- Shipping as fast as we can by striving for same-day shipping
- Having our guys come in early and leave late to make sure orders get out
- Dedication by sticking to the company’s vision
