A couple of weeks back, Strongbox West and Tech Talent South teamed up to bring Atlanta its first-ever Westside Startup Showcase. Over 150 people came out to “Atlanta’s Biggest & Most Bad-Ass Coworking Space” to mix it up with some of the city’s startup darlings, including: Hux, Fittery, Softwear Automation, Beerfit, and yours truly, among many others. Representing SUPPLY.com was Tim Adkins, Creative Producer, who brought a few cases of beer, and explained to the A’s tech community how we’re building something great 15 miles west of downtown. Check out the photos and quotes below.

Amy Hoover, Strongbox West Founder
We caught up with Amy Hoover, Founder of Strongbox West, to find out more about the event. “We wanted to give entrepreneurs on the Westside a chance to meet each other, and also showcase to the Atlanta community at large the diversity as well as the really cool things companies based in this quadrant of the city are doing,” said Hoover. “We had over 150 attendees and over 20 companies presenting, from cutting edge tech to education organic skincare. We also went through a LOT of beer, and that’s always a good sign.”
Successful startups have emerged from all corners of the city, primarily from Buckhead’s Atlanta Tech Village and Midtown’s Tech Square (ATDC, Flashpoint, Tech Square Labs, etc.). Even Downtown’s Switchyards has a home for creative startups, so why the Westside? Curious to learn more, Tim spoke with Mandy Putnam, Community Organizer at Tech Talent South, who explained, “The Westside is an up and coming part of the city, so it’s a great place for new businesses – they can grow and expand along with the neighborhood. It’s really fun to be a part of that growth and change as we help redefine the Westside neighborhood.”

As a sponsor of the event, and THE original west side startup (Austell, GA is about as Westside as it gets), we were joined by some of the biggest supporters of Atlanta’s tech/startup scene to help make it happen. A massive shout out to Startup Atlanta, Invest Atlanta, Georgia Primary Bank, Hypepotamus, Nine Labs, Nebo Agency and Monday Night Brewing!
Whether it’s our favorite businesses in the ATL community or our BBFs (Best Brand Friends) in the plumbing industry, the relationships we build are what help us build something great.
